Basic Training
At Lone Star Black Belt Academy, with our new class schedule, we are offering a variety of flexible scheduling options. It’s important to understand the structure of our class schedule, so that you can maximize the value of your Basic Training program. We operate on an ABC block schedule.
Mondays and Tuesdays are the A block classes in which we’re working on skill development of curriculum and techniques- kicks, punches, blocks, and katas. Working on the development of our techniques on A day will set us up for success for B days.
Wednesday and Thursdays are the B block classes in which we’re working on skill application in a more combative format. We will do limited contact style drills with light power in our basic program. Once you reach the rank of gold belt, you’ll purchase sparring gear, which will be utilized in these B block classes.
Saturdays are the C block classes in which are working on specialty classes and are limited to our Black Belt Club and higher. There is an additional class on the C block under the heading of Basic Training that is also available class and it’s treated as a B block class for our Basic members.
The best variety for your two days a week the basic program offers is to do one from the A block and one from the B block.
Regarding our attendance tracking protocols, it’s important that we do track your attendance. An average of two classes per week is required for promotion, so it’s important that you’re being consistent with your training. Our attendance tracking system is simple; find the iPad kiosks and check in under your name. Please keep in mind if you ever miss a class, you are more than welcome to make up a time that’s more convenient for you.
