Best of Age – Rules & Guidelines
The Lone Star Tournament Series (Lone Star Classic, Lone Star Challenge, and Lone Star Showdown) will recognize a Best of Age Champion in each age division at the conclusion of the tournament year. Competitors earn points by placing in any division they enter- forms, sparring, weapons, BJJ, MMA, and more. The more events they compete in and the better they place, the more points they earn. All three tournaments count equally, and competitors remain in the same age group for the entire season. At the end of the year, the competitor with the highest total points in each age division will be crowned Best of Age and recognized at the final tournament and online.
Eligible Age Divisions
Competitors remain in the same Best of Age category for the entire season.
Eligible Events
All divisions offered at Lone Star tournaments qualify for Best of Age points, including but not limited to Bopper Sparring, Flag Sparring, Forms, Weapons Forms, Point Sparring, Continuous Sparring, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (gi), and MMA.
All three tournaments count equally toward Best of Age standings:

Ties
In the event of a tie for Best of Age at the end of the year, the tiebreaker will be based on most 1st-place finishes. If a tie still remains, we will determine by most 2nd-place finishes.

Point System
Points are awarded based on placement only (no participation points):
- 1st Place – 3 points
- 2nd Place – 2 points
- 3rd Place – 1 point
- Demo Division (D-1) does not qualify for points.
Eligibility
- Best of Age is open to Lone Star students only.
- Competitors may miss a tournament and remain eligible; final rankings are based strictly on total points earned across the series.
