black belt club
At Lone Star Black Belt Academy, with our new class schedule, we are offering a variety of flexible scheduling options. It’s important to understand the structure of our class schedule, so that you can maximize the value of your Black Belt Club training program. We operate on an ABC block schedule.
Mondays and Tuesdays are the A block classes in which we’re working on skill development of curriculum and technique- kicks, punches, blocks, and katas. A day classes are separated based on rank. White, gold, orange are Beginners. Camo, green, blue, purple are Intermediates. Red, Red/Brown, Brown, Red/Black are Advanced. Black Belts are now back in their own class. Working on the development of our techniques on A days will set us up for success for B days.
Wednesday and Thursdays are the B-block classes in which we’re working on skill application in sparring format and weapons training. We will apply the A day skills in a Sparring format, along with free sparring. We will also focus on our weapons training allowing us more time to dive deeper into technique and skills. B days are separated based on program. Yourself being in Black Belt Club will attend Black Belt Club classes. Keep in mind that if there’s a class on the C block, which is Saturday, under the heading of Black Belt Club, that it is also an available class and is treated as a B block class for our Black Belt Club members.
The best variety for your two Taekwondo classes a week your program offers is to do one from the A block and one from the B block, with the optional opportunity of specialty classes from the C block. Please keep in mind if you ever miss an A or B block class, you are more than welcome to make up a time that’s more convenient for you.
An additional benefit for our Black Belt Club members are the C block specialty weapons classes in our class schedule. Saturdays are the C block classes are optional classes in which are working on weapons specialties and are limited to our Black Belt Club and higher. Our C block classes will never be required for Black Belt Club members, but rather an opportunity for more training if you choose to take advantage of. The C block classes include one specialty class for our Black Belt Club members and higher for each of our four weapons- sword, kamas, bo staff, and a combination class of chucks and tricking. For those choosing to partake in C block specialty classes, it is recommended to find your exclusive choice of competition weapon and only attending that one specialty weapons class.
We are super excited for this change and all the new opportunities this opens up for our herd. If you have any questions that need clarification regarding your classes, please see an instructor or the program director.
